I had the pleasure of catching up with Holly Shaffer from the Illinois Route 66 Heritage Project yesterday. She was super helpful with helping the project by sending information including a rundown of the events being held on Route 66 (I’ll post them ASAP). Their website has got a ton of info on the attractions that Illinois offers, it’s an exhaustive list and definitely worth a look if you’re traveling Route 66 this year.

This past week I sent out emails to the most recent info I could find online for each states historical society. One of the cool things about these societies is that these group of caring people keep Route 66 in the minds of travelers and work for preservation of the Mother Road. Since sending out the emails I’ve heard from Marilyn Emde, Administrator for the Oklahoma Route 66 Association, and she’ll be sending me some info soon.
