So Where Are The Credits?

By Dan Portnoy • Sep 10th, 2007 • Category: The Film

One of the largest pieces of feedback I’ve received this week is about opening credits. I’ve received emails asking, “Where are the opening credits?” “How are we supposed to know who you are?” and “Didn’t you guys develop this more and do your homework?”. To all of this feedback I say, thank you for caring enough to ask questions. and so in all of this I asked Won Novalis, editor and overall genius of this project these very same questions.

So Won what’s with the lack of opening credits? And how is anyone supposed to figure out who we are?

Most Pilot Episodes don’t have opening credits because you haven’t established who the people are and you also don’t want to give away who will be in the show or if they will be. We approached the The Great American Road Trip like a traditional TV Series giving it no opening so that it would feel just like a pilot. Most pilot episodes don’t put the money into the credits opening until they know the show is okay’d, that is traditionally the case. Don’t worry, starting in Episode 2 the credits will be there and from there on is the plan. Just episode one is Sans-credits.

And as we all learned in Episode 1 “sans” is French for “too bad”. So next week make sure you’re watching for the opening credits plus Restrooms of Virginia really comes into it’s own.
